A brief ABC Lumber update as my first submission. The state of repair is rather dire now at this location, as significant degradations have occurred in the last couple years alone.

Notable updates:

  • The main gate to the property, installed by the hydro company, has been fully propped open, presumably by local squatters, for some time now. No security is present anymore at this location.
  • There is still at least 1 individual living upstairs, as well as an RV trailer shack on the backlot, and my own previous sighting of multiple people relaxing on one of the plywood outbuildings.
  • Despite the post tags saying "Sensors" and "Gated" the site has neither of these things. I do not believe there is any functional security at all on this site. The owner of the property is the hydro utility, and they do not care what goes on there.
  • Flooding has set in. At some point, the toilet in the main building bathroom was destroyed. This exposed a pipe with fresh running water, which promptly began to flood the entire first floor. When I was present, many areas of the first floor were much less accessible. Many pieces of files and media from when ABC Lumber operated are still intact, however to see anything of importance, you must clamber over waterlogged, soggy, bendy wooden planks, and pieces of assorted debris. The pipe is likely unfixable until a utility is notified and could fully cut off water supply to the site, however I suspect the situation will simply get worse until the area is even less accessible than ever.

These things are sad to see as only a few years back in 2022/2023 the site was only moderately wrecked, with lots of debris strewn around but still plenty of coherent evidence of what once was. This is no longer the case as the site is becoming less enjoyable to even visit.

The large storage room off the main storefront is still somewhat habitable, however beware of bad air throughout and massive quantities of fiberglass insulation that has fallen from the ceiling. Watch above, as much of it is held up with thin, degrading, moldy, waterlogged plastic film.

If you find the upstairs stairway, be careful. Someone calls the upper floor home, despite the collapsed roof.

One tiny pipe is causing the most destruction out of everything this place has been through.
