I think this pink room ended up being an eating area after the addition was put on the house. The pink staircase leads up to what looks like a nannies quarters.

I asked my parents about this area as they were both born and raised on a farm. Back in the day, small rooms were built to do the cooking/preserves. These rooms were built beside the kitchen but out of the kitchen to try and contain the cooking heat during the summer months.
