This is the best exploration I've ever done. Huge area and amount of building and extremely secluded. The main road runs right through it but there are plenty of places to hide your car and the actual buildings are well under forest cover. Was a very popular honeymoon spot but after the owner died, the state seized it for lack of back taxes paid. Some rooms look undisturbed. Even found an 8 year old phone book just sitting on the table and the TV was still plugged in.

From Ashutosh_730:

It was an old famous honeymoon resort located in Analomink, in the Pocono mountains Pennsylvania. The Penns Hills resort is a huge hotel covering an area of 500 acres and consists of a hundred rooms. The hotel has ski rooms and a golf course.

History of Penn Hills Resort

The whole property of Penn Hills resort belongs to Frances Paolillo. The whole hotel is dedicated to newlyweds couples. In the early days of Penn Hills resort, it had two large in-ground pools in the shape of wedding bells. The resort was billed as "Paradise Pocono Pleasure". This hotel was mainly built for new couples who loved archery and tennis.  Each room of the hotel is included with candy apple red heart-shaped jacuzzis, surrounded by mirrors and space for your favorite candles.

Closure of Penn Hills resort

After the death of its co-founder Paolillo at the age of 102, the resort was closed within two months. After that Monroe County took over the hotel property,  but they never issued the paychecks of workers and even didn't clear the back taxes of the hotel. Later the back taxes reach $1 million.  In the following years, the resort's building was highly damaged due to no maintenance and vandalism and the resort became abandoned for the rest of the years.

Once a beautiful resort is a today only ruins. The old hotel building caught fire many times which caused high damages to the property. One can find the walls are covered with graffiti and all that.

It gets a bad reputation when a wanted criminal named Eric Frein hides here. This place is marked to be one of his several hideouts. It gossips that Eric wrote his manifestation on the walls of this old Penn Hill resort.Within 2012 Monroe County sold several of Penn Hills property in small plots, but the resort was still unsold. But the golf course of the resort which was nearly 40 acres was sold to Stroud Township and became a part of Evergreen Nature Reserve.

Today's Penn Hills Resort

Many visitors visit this site of the old hotel, but won't find any romance in this place. The old ruins keep standing for years without any maintenance. Once a beautiful romantic resort s today only ruins are left, vandalism destroyed everything. In 2016  the remainder of Penn hills was purchased by some New York investors for $400000. In the very next year, the same property again sold for $688000.The main building of the resort was burned down in the year 2017, it was the 3rd time when the hotel caught fire. The hotel with its golf ground, which was under Evergreen Nature reserve, was demolished in the very same year. Since 2009 the resort was permanently closed to the public, and it is a private property, no one can enter here without proper permission.

I know a few of the OAP members have been here. I pass by this place almost annually, I was overruled on my exploration last February (2014) when we were in the area. It was starting to take a real shit kicking after staying somewhat left alone for a few years. I mentioned this place on the forum a while back (not by name), 84 acres of the land was sold at a tax auction for $27,000.
