The Grossinger family started with a single house on 100 acres of land back in 1919, it was called Grossinger's Terrace Hill House. In 1952 this became the first ski resort in the world to use artificial snow. Rocky Marciano, the famous boxer trained here in the fifties. By 1972 the resort took up 1200 acres with 35 buildings, it even had its own airstrip and a post office. In its prime it served 150,000 guests a year. But in the late seventies the resort began to deteriorate and visitors spiraled downward. In 1985 it was sold to Hotels International, they didn't do any major renovations and it closed for good in 1986. The golf course was re-opened in 2011 and remains active today, while the rest of the property is abandoned.

There was a lot to see here including 3 apartment buildings. The circus themed room was cool but too dangerous to walk across. The best part of the resort was of course the Olympic sized swimming pool.

I clearly live in the wrong part of the world. Non-city based "opportunities" like this simply don't exist here. Or, I am a moron. YMMV. Well done and nice.
