Built in 1884, this plant has been on and off abandoned over time.
Originally built as a cotton processing plant in a town with a population of 4,000 people... it was consistently sold, shut down for a few years, resold again. It stayed stable as an underwear factory that grew and expanded to eventually supply for Roots and manufacture flame resistent knit garments from approximately 1916 - the early 1990's. Still, the town's population never grew, and so a factory employing 200 people was a bit unnecessary and it officially closed in 2005.
The building was eventually sold to developers who had intentions to turn it into condominiums, a microbrewery and other stores. They proposed to keep as much of the original building's architecture as possible. They replaced all the windows in the building and began to clean up the building. Eventually financial issues were faced and the project was put to a stop leaving the property abandoned once again.
The property was put up for sale again in July 2015 for less than a million.
I doubt it will survive the next sale in its current state.

Great gallery and location. Surprised and relieved there is not more graffiti. Excellent photos.

Thanks guys! Yes I think most of the graffiti was captured in this gallery... This hobby is pretty popular in Nova Scotia... But it seems that vandalism is not... so that's a bonus!
