Gelert is a ghost town east of Minden.

This is one of the most amazing abandoned churches I have ever found. It is hidden behind the trees, in downtown Gelert, beside the old abandoned general store. It is hard to see-- so drive by real slow.

It is open and rotting inside, but still has its pews and other goodies. The next door neighbours were nice enough to let me enter via their property.

There is no reason this had to happen..The locals are lazy- very lazy...Some support beams could have prevented this...

I finally got my chance to visit the church, and low and behold, the roof has caved in!!! No evidence of fire and the walls seem somewhat stable, but the roof is gone. See my pics for the devastation.

Great Find. Looks untouched - except by time.
