History

In September of 1987, Westford homes started advertising a new enclave of custom luxury homes ranging from 3000-45000 square feet that would be built on 14 large lots ranging from 2-3 acres in size. depending on the model of house and lot you chose, they were sold for an average $289,000 brand new. the 14 homes were all complete and occupied by fall of 1988.

fast forward to 2020, when treasure hill homes, a vaughan based development company decided they wanted to redevelop the entire neighbourhood with 145 new single detached dwellings. they purchased all 14 properties for an average of $3,000,000 each, and part of the deal was the residents could remain living in their homes rent free for 2 years. today, 13 of the 14 sit with the garages and entire main floor doors and windows boarded up. there is still currently 1 house left that is still occupied for the time being. but give it 1-2 months and it will be vacant and boarded up also. all the trees on all 14 properties have been completely cut down and removed.

i’m sure it’s only a matter of time until the demolition crew rolls up and this once beautiful, private neighbourhood that was once filled with families, love, laughter and memories, turns into nothing but 14 piles of crushed brick, plywood and tile sitting in a landfill.

I first stumbled upon this location in late july of 2022 while on my way to a different location. the large “development notice” sign caught my attention and i quickly turned around to take a closer look.

at the time, only 1 of the 14 was vacant, and this was still a very much active neighbourhood. it wasn’t until december 2022 when 3 more were vacant, and then by april 2023, 13 of the 14.
