Hazards

I don’t believe that where the majority of ruins are is private property, though I am not entirely sure. There are a few thistles which aren’t easy to spot before it’s too late. Overall not much in terms of hazards.

History

Maleb, formerly Conquerville, was used as a stop for ranchers on their way to Fort McLeod. When coal was found in the area in the early 20th century, more people were brought to the area. An agricultural boom occurred in the early 1910s, which brought more farmers to the area. Unfortunately, The Spanish Flu impacted many people living in Conquerville. Later in the 20th century, the community was recovered due to land grants. A school was opened in 1945 and more and more people were coming to the area. However, the school was closed in 1980s and the community fell into a steady decline. A fire ravaged much of what was left of the school and now few residents remain.

About this location

To my knowledge, there are more ruins than what I saw. I saw a barn, house, and a building that had collapsed in. I didn’t spend too much time here, because I went to St. Anthony of Padua Church afterwards. (I posted St. Anthony of Padua Church the day before posting this.)
