Demolished House in Bracebridge, Ontario, Canada

Location # 4919

Big old stone house. Perimeter patrolled by a family of wild turkeys and a skunk. Nice old Dodge pick up truck on point duty. House is empty except a piano and a couple of old chairs. Funny how they always leave the pianos. Basement has an assortment of junk and a shed\outbuilding has more junk. Don't get me wrong, junk is interesting. There is evidence of paintball activity and some damage but mostly intact, a good house, solid and stately.

From badamson9: This home was abandoned around 2005. It was a family home for the Thompson family. Both parents and children were developmentally delayed. The father committed suicide on the property in 2005. He was the only one who could drive so the mom and 2 children moved into town. I found the daughters picture in the house. I went to high school with her.

House is in rough shape; brick siding has been removed. Gated, probably will be demolished.

Some protests going on at the factory across the street when I visited (on a Saturday), so there were a bunch of cars parked in this driveway. Something about the factory union locking out some employees? Not sure the exact details.

Thanks to badamson9 for this info: I grew up knowing the last occupants of the house. Sadly around 2009 the father of the family committed suicide on the property in the forrest behind the house. All members of the family are developmentally delayed. As he was the only family member who drove they left the house and moved into town to be closer to amenities.
