This Lone Gravestone is located on a knoll in a worked field near the Morrison Rd. east of Frankville. The Leeds & Grenville OGS transcribed this Stone about 40 years ago and at that time they recorded the transcription as:

JAMES BRENNAN WHO DIED JAN. 10, 1847 AGED 76 Y'RS. MARY HIS WIFE DIED MAY 7, 1857 AGED 78 Y'RS.

The elements have since erased all traces of the Transcription and only the faint outline of the Weeping Willow Tree Symbol remains.

Nice find & relay on the story. Many RoadSide Graves in the area. A testiment to the Pioneers.

It's always so sad to see something like this. Looks like the stone has been moved maybe by cultivators? Great record find, I wish sometimes they had left more a of their story. I guess that's for the family to know. Hopefully they are still remembered by them.
