Demolished House in Northern Bruce Peninsula, Ontario, Canada

Recent status Demolished
Location # 5840

To be demolished From my understanding from the locals of the area, this property has recently been sold and the new owners are planning to demolish. It is boarded up, but there is nice access to the property. I am not sure when the new owners are planning to tear it down.

There are two structures on the property. The main house right out front as well as a large shed out the back.

This property was owned by the Pettigrew family. I found records for a Harry Pettigrew, his wife Annie and two children. Herman and Leona in the 1911 census record for St. Edmunds township. I also found evidence that Harry Pettigrew was appointed to the Board of Health for St. Edmunds township in 1903. My information about the Pettigrew family has also come from the Grandaughter of the previous owner who lived in the location for many years. Still digging for more history!

It is on a very main street with easy access to the property. It was boarded up so unfortunately I could not gain access but did try to get some shots of the inside from the only window accessible.

Front porch and back section of house have been removed. I'm sure this house's days are numbered now that it's been brought to the attention of the township.

Looks so far gone I'm surprised it's still standing.

I wish I could have gotten in also. Unfortunately it was really boarded up. I tried to get a couple shots through the window the best I could. I could have possibly gotten into the shed if I tried to climb over all the things in the way, but it didn't seem like the best idea!

Nice find and yes I can see based on its location why it might soon fall to demolition. Would love to get a chance to explore the inside though..!
