About this album

While on vacation went to Fenelon Falls to look at houses for sale(looking to move) and got to see the Trent-severn waterway Lock 34 of Fenelon Falls and the Dam to go with the Locks. It is classified as a historical location. Built in 1960s to replace the original Lock from 1880s because they were constructed of wood and stone that required constant maintenance and frequently had to have the wood gates rebuilt. The lock officially opened in 1963 followed by a concrete bridge 2 years later. I've attached the link at the bottom if you want to check out more information on the Locks. You can see where they lower the boats and the water ways they fill when boats go through. The dam itself was very fast flowing and had some cool architecture in the buildings for control of the dam. Theres a bell thats labeled as a tribute and a couple of benches shaped like butterflies before some stairs. There's a green space down the stairs with what I believe is shale (correct me if I'm wrong) walls which had icicles hanging off them making it even cooler. Further down the green space is a dock and a set of stairs leading to the water. Across the road from the Dam and green space is the lock gates and the lock keepers house with original tools still on the walls inside (photo taken through a window) and just down and across from that is a fenced area with an old rail line and an old train car on the rails. Theres a couple old pieces of equipments along the way as well. Over all if your in the area its a cool thing to see.
