About this album

This is an old elementary schoolhouse dating back to the 19th century in the small village of Cape Traverse, just east of Borden Carleton. It's a 2-classroom school, one of many on the island, which closed in 1973 presumably due to nearby regional schools being opened in the province. I believe they taught grades 1 - 4 here.

This was one of the classrooms. The floor was covered in ripped up paper, equipment, etc, with water damage everywhere.

A moldy math textbook

A somewhat intact math textbook. Most the other textbooks were ripped up and turned into nesting for mice and rodents in the walls.

This is how dark it was for me when I was in here. The door is leading to the completely collapsed bathroom.

Moldy water damaged wallpaper and ceilings in one of the classrooms.

I presume the wallpaper originally covered the entire wall, and overtime degraded and fell onto the floor and decomposed. The ceiling at the edge of the room is close to collapsing.
