Doctor Hamilton bought this property back in 1818. It totalled seventy-eight acres with five waterfalls!!! These waterfalls were, where I was going when I stumbled on the second owners cemetery at the end of the parking lot of Webster Falls a.k.a. Dr. Hamilton's Falls. James Hamilton sold the land around Webster Falls and Baby Webster Falls, to Joseph Webster, in 1820 [ probably paid for original purchase].[see old map in gallery]. Don't feel bad for the Doc. though, as he had lots of property left and still 3 waterfalls, 1 a few feet short of Niagara Falls[Tews Falls]. Hamilton Conservation owns it now as a request from the will of a former mayor of Dundas. The stunning stone bridge was built in 1933. The other two falls still on Dr. Hamilton's property were Lower Tews Falls and Ferguson Falls. An Ojibwa woman who her white husband was killed in a jealous rage, took his lifeless body in her arms and plunged to her death with him, over Webster Falls. Conservation fees apply. Not the same Hamilton after the city[George Hamilton].
