The company originated from Akron Ohio in 1900 and started off with only 12 employees! It was incorporated in Hamilton in 1919 and started operations in 1922. The first Canadian made tire was hot off the production line on September 15.

This originally 40 acre property with it's over 800,000 Sq.Ft. warehouse/factory has been upgraded and enlarged dozens of times since it was originally built in 1919 and has been left to rot since 1988. The city of Hamilton has taken over the front portion of the land and built a new allegedly "state of the art" recycling facility.

In May 2009, the city of Hamilton has made public plans to demolish the factory, giving urban explorers as a main security concern with the old rotting structure. As of January 2012, the city has started demolition of the warehouse/factory and office sections that remained of the plant. The demolition was completed in April 2012.
