About this location

This beautiful brick home was recently demolished, although the silo still stands. The home was once the house of George Phipps and his wife Sarah Ann Jennings. George was born in Whitby in 1842. George farmed on this property for several years and eventually moved to Toronto where he worked as a carpenter. George died in Toronto in 1919 of acute pulmonary congestion.

Standing on this property, it(a)s not hard to see it was a beautiful location to build a home. Another piece of history being swallowed up by urban expansion.
