Welcome to the former Church Of The Apostles. This church originally opened on November 16, 1953 and was intended to be a parish hall. The design of the hall was based on St. Philip’s, Weston. Church halls played an important role in the 1950’s. It was also a place for social groups to gather, sports, drama and education. Back then the community was known as ‘Havilland’ as the De Havilland aircraft plant was located nearby. The Church of Apostles closed and was disestablished in 2012. The Truth Centre took over the building up until 2014. Since then it sits and is awaiting demolition as a new condo tower will be built in its place.

This was a random find for me as it caught my eye when I drove past it. I first tried to gain access but couldn’t as a person had just come out on their second story balcony directly beside. I returned a week later and was successful. Inside is empty but the decay makes up for it and at least the organ is still intact. The basement is dark and in rough shape, I would suggest a mask down there. There is water leaking in the furnace room. Upstairs there is evidence of a recent squatter but I didn’t run into anyone.
