Trashed Mountain High

Mountain Secondary School was established in 1995 when two other schools had merged. In 2010, 328 students were enrolled here and the numbers went down since then. The school also offered special education and ESL classes. Mountain finally closed its doors on June 26, 2017.

I had tried here a couple other times since the closure and I was denied. An exploring friend suggested that I check it out again as they were doing some work here recently and he thought demo was coming soon. As I rolled up I pretty much saw that every window and door had now been boarded up. I wasn’t confident there would be a way in but I did my walk around. I was happy to see not one but two doors were unlocked.

Once inside, I was greeted with darkness, graffiti and senseless vandalism, typical for a school in Hamilton. I also ran into a friendly homeless man just chilling in one of the classrooms. You get full access here including the roof and the basement. The gym was ok and the cafeteria was kinda cool. Not sure how long this is going to last but judging from the destruction, it’s been open for a little while now.
