EasterBrooks R.I.P

Known as Easterbrooks Too, Easterbrooks Red Hot Grill, or the new Easterbrooks this is in fact the second location of the famous Aldershot Hot Dog and ice cream restaurant that unfortunately met the fate of closure and subsequential abandonment. It is regrettable that I do not know when this location opened up as there is absolutely no mention of it anywhere online the earliest mention I have seen is that Easterbrooks purchased the property from a place called Jumbo's and was in it for 30 years! However I can say it did end up closing on October 9th, 2018 due to the building becoming old and more costly to maintain as well as foot traffic and business seemingly dwindling at this location. The reasons why can seem to be attributed to poor staff hiring choices and not being able to accept debit cards until 2018, as well as it becomes more costly to run two locations rather than one. A little history of Easterbrooks is that it's been open at its original Aldershot location for 85 years. For 4 generations of the family has served at the restaurant and has maintained the 50's diner aesthetic with checkered floors and pinball games included. The original location opened in 1926 when Mable Easterbrook had it as a tea house. In 1930 she began selling hotdogs and the rest is history. For the past 3 years, it has been sitting vacant and abandoned despite having been purchased by a developing firm. It is the same story for the rest of the plaza where Easterbrooks is situated. The reason it sits abandoned is due to this developer needing zoning and planning permission to build on the site of the lot erect a new apartment/condo building alongside commercial buildings. Due to this, it sits in limbo until demolition day. I remember coming here when I was younger and loving both the hot dogs and especially the strawberry milkshakes, a lot of memories are at this place and it pains me to see it in its current state and even photograph it and put it in an abandoned place site it is unreal. Currently, there are no entrances although people have tried breaking down the doors to no avail. It still has power and most likely an alarm system, the only part you can access is a storage space underneath the stairs besides that it is only exterior shots for now. This is to remember Easterbrook New Street Location and the special place it has in my heart before it is demolished, LONG LIVE EASTERBROOKS!
