Hazards: Sharp Objects Floors Animals Insects

Hazards

Floors - There are holes in various parts of the bridge. It is TOTALLY SOLID otherwise. Just be aware, always. Sharp Objects - Could be glass or god knows what up there. Used sharps. I shudder to think about how things change sometimes. Insects & Animals - Outdoors, spiders will be present in different spots, and I do believe there are deer tracks in the snow in my album.

About this location

“A disused CNR bridge, built in 1961, part of a CNR spur line running north from the Lancaster Street rail yard, along the perimeter of Woodside National Historic Site, to service the Burns Meats processing plant (closed in 1984), the 1901 Ontario Sugar Company’s sugar beet refinery (from 1909 as the Dominion Sugar Co., closed in 1923) and the Bridgeport Mill (burned in 1970). The rails were removed, although some wooden ties at Woodside remain to trace the right of way toward Burns Meats' Guelph Street location. He is a good local photographer and his page should have more likes IMO.

He had told me that there are plans to widen Wellington St and that this bridge is a “chokepoint”. I do believe that. The pedestrian crossing is neat, but I have heard stories that it can be a bit of a sketchy place to be at night, due to the lack of working lights inside. Its a neat bridge, albeit not that old. I was not aware of its lack of use until I saw his photos of it. And it is not a new spot. But who knows how long until its not a spot?

Bridge with abandoned RV

Though this location is a little boring, we found a RV alongside the rail tracks and thought we would share (though we didn't get many photos because it was not a fun spot to stay around)

if scribbles are your thing...

Much the same as ishootthings' album. Glad to check it out in person. Kind of an interesting spot if you're into railways and stuff!
