Hazards
The Leitch and Sand River mines are relatively easily accessed. The foundations and general area do not present any major dangers aside from animal encounters. However there are collapsing sections of the UG workings which have been cordoned off.
History
These mines were operations from the mid 30s to the mid 60s.
About this location
These two mines straddle the road on the way to a camping area west of Beardmore. The Sand River site on the west retains some foundations from structures, whereas the Leitch mine on the Eastern side of the road offers relatively little of interest but piles of rock.
