Thanks! Yeah, while I'm sure the view would have been cool, I like the eerie vibe it had in the fog! Beside it would have mostly just been "hey look more bush"

Looks like the Mennonites have bought this place and it's active now as a carpentry shop or something.

Visited this spot recently (July 2024). The location seems to have been remediated and all the buildings removed. The area is now used by campers.

The weather cooperated with making this much more atmospheric than if it had just been like, sunny out.

Exactly, there's this sense of it being "lost" in some way that has a different atmosphere from things that are more recently abandoned or in the middle of a city.

I find stuff in the bush the most interesting cause the remoteness removes other indications of people, so it can feel like a post-apocalypse or reliving childhood dreams of discovering some ancient civilization

Yeah it's just off to the side from that flooded structure and has a rusty cylindrical tank like thing on the front. Probably once had a large structure on top that this may have powered something for, though the sluice gates were way up at the top of the falls
