Hazards
The site itself is remote, and the roads in are long and devoid of services or fuel.
As most of the site has burned, the biggest hazards are the many downed, burned trees that can trip or pierce, and the ever present concerns about animal encounters (bears) and the bugs.
History
Creetopia was a tourist lodging collaboration between a French company and the Cree communities of Eeyou Istchee.
Development was underway in 2019, however sadly the intense fires of the summer of 2023 led to its destruction, as well as much of the forest around it.
About this location
A long drive up the Billy Diamond highway, and then about halfway down the road to Waskaganish, I just happened upon this spot when finding a place to launch a canoe.
With the nearby rapids and the rocky shore it would have been a nice spot before the fire.
