Fence around the buildings. Area is populated and somewhat busy usually.
History
Prior to 2012 the building housed the bar Rock & Roll Heaven. Before Rock & Roll Heaven it was a Peel Pub location. Peel Pub was a bar chain originally founded in Montreal, Quebec in 1962. It had 2 Toronto locations which have both closed permanently. Only the Montreal location is still standing. In 2012 it became Rally Sports Bar + Smokehouse, the finally business to house the building. The building on the left remained unchanged as a Mister Transmission location for the last 20+ years. Mister Transmission is a Canadian chain of transmission repair shops founded in 1963 in Richmond Hill, Ontario. Both these buildings closed in 2024. In September of 2025 a fire broke out at Rally Sports Bar. A demolition permit was issued January 2026 due to the fire damage. Demolition started in early 2026 and completed in Spring 2026. There is a proposal to build a Vaultra Storage on site, a 7-storey flex office and self storage.
About this location
The building was a fairly large sports bar that had a very eye catching facade and sign. On the left twas a Mister Transmission location hat was also abandoned. The structure on the right is Jet Kleen, an active coin car wash. Throughout the last 20+ years the building on the left stayed a Mister Transmission. The sign and appearance remaining consistent. The bar and restaurant however, changed ownership 3 times. Each time with a different name, sign, and overall aesthetic. Rally Sports Bar + Smokehouse was the building’s final business. Through word of mouth I believe these 2 buildings were owned by the same person while they were open and operating. The entirety of the year or so they were abandoned, no one had seemingly gained entry. I visited the area twice and while I didn’t enter, I was able to see through the windows. Both locations appeared completely empty on the inside.
