Built circa 1905 by the Grand Trunk Railway this building was capable of servicing up to twenty seven steam locomotives at a time. In 1958 the last steam locomotives were retired and in 1964 the roundhouse was demolished, along with other facilities such as the machine shop, ice houses and coal tower. The remains of the roundhouse are still visible immediately to the south of the South Shore Community Centre.

Contrary to what the below user says the Allandale Station has not been demolished, it has been restored. The building currently on the site is the same one that was there before the scaffolding went up, its just been returned to its as built 1905 appearance. If you're in the area go take a look, they did a great job.
My grandfather took this train to Barrie for his army training in WWII. He was dropped off right here at the lake.

Thanks for the update ehar, I worked at the Barrie rail yards 1977-1980 and although the roundhouse was gone we used the turntable on a regular basis except in winter when the pit was full of snow.
