This was Sir William MacKenzie(a)s grand country home that was converted into a boutique hotel. Unfortunately, the hotel failed after a combination of 9-11, SARS, and various recessions made its isolated location problematic for the clientele it needed to survive. It(a)s up for sale, but in the meantime, it languishes without caretaking beyond the odd security check. The grounds contain various wooden sculptures, a wedding chapel, and the remains of a cabin. It(a)s right in the town of Kirkfield, so all photos were taken from outside. It(a)s a lovely old building.

The nuns, originally sold this place to MacDonald Ross, and as hard as he worked, it was like having a ship with a hole in the bottom, eventually it sank the only people successfull operating this property were the mortage holders
Have driven by this places hundreds of times over the years and never visited when it was open. Shame on me. Another historic tourist spot killed by high gas prices.
I use to work there, very cool place. Spent a couple of nights in it but no ghosts .
Family friends has purchased this place and is using it as a cottage now. I will get pictures of the inside.. but this place is not abannoned anymore.
Visited yesterday. What a shame to see this beautiful place left in this condition. Locked up tight, no access without a B&E. I have added some photos and a link to the website.
Good find. This place was in use up until this year, no guests anymore, but apparently there are spirits within.

The inn has undergone a thorough restoration and is now back in business. I believe it is now designated a provincially significant historical site.
