TIP: Bring a SUPER BRIGHT light and shine that on the area it tries to focus, then turn the light off and shoot (slam into MF if you want to remove finger from the shutter before shooting). There may be better ways too. The firing of the flash sucks sometimes. Imagine, I use the tripod for everything, hence why I do this and dont have to hold the camera while I shine a light ect..... EDIT: Ive found the AF likes to focus on dust flying around too if that is present.
