Wow ! I love it. At first I thought a fire, but then I saw a large dart but probably suppose to be an arrow,[I would have made the shaft longer then] and 1 in the ALL white house beside it. This is very striking to it's surroundings now. I heard one dad telling his daughter as they rode by on bikes, that "this is some ones idea of art". It's not your idea of art , so it's not art? That's it, close her mind to anything strange or unusual ,get in line, follow the group. This was like two huge art galleries.......Walking around these bleak houses in this upscale area was a very different kind of explore. In full site of a huge condo, felt like being in a fish bowl and everything and the ground were painted. New vegetation was very vibrant against the black house.......... By Don Miller of Shelburne, Ontario and inspired by John Milton's epic poem" Paradise Lost" Saturn and Cronus is Don Miller's interpretation of a fresh myth in the making. It is also celebratory delay in the grand fated design for these two abandoned houses. It reminds me a little of Mr. Bean ' the painting his apartment sketch' using paint and a bomb. That must have been quite a site the day they painted them. "I'll paint yer house and da udder one too, $300, no masking". I was going to just jot down the poem but you see the first version published in 1667 consisted of TEN books with over ten thousand lines of verse!! A second edition in 1674[ the year John died] arranged into twelve books. You would also need it translated to plain English. Check out link if that interests you in both plain English and original. http://www.paradiselost.org/ Briefly, It's about the creation of Adam and Eve and losing their "Paradise" ,Eden. It's basically the same story that you will find in the pages of Genesis , just expanded into a lengthy poem by Milton. It is also the story of the origin of Satan, Lucifer, and their revolt against God. Saturn is a God in ancient roman religion and a character in myth. He was the God of wealth, agriculture and later the God of Time. Saturday and of course the planet Saturn, are also named after this God. Cronus, Cronos or Kronos in Greek mythology , he overthrew his father and ruled during the mythological Golden Age until he was overthrown by his son Zeus. Cronus was the Roman equivalent of Saturn. The illustrations to this poem were mostly, all in black and white, and lots of fighting depicting maybe these houses were in the battlefield ?[as with the arrow in them?] Just a guess.

Now Demolished As of July 2014

you bet Tx FOS, Another neat gallery would be of people's faces the first time they saw these houses, as I know what mine must have looked like. Until I read, it was art, I couldn't wrap my head around, why.

No, wouldn't do that but that would be funny. If this artist joins OAP it will be real easy to see if he's gone to a location but the big guy may frown on this.

I initially thought the arrow was photoshopped! Very unique! But wth!?

I saw them before they were painted, then took a trip out earlier this week to see the painted editions... Eh. I hope someone has interiors, they've been abandoned for ages!

aw come on , really, you didn't like them before either? my eyes loved it. Maybe we have to read the 12 books to understand it. Going in person is a lot different. mmm painted decay.

Even more of an eyesore now than they were.

I'm ready for it , lol. I don't quite know what the dart reference is but I haven't read the twelve books of that poem either. I would have used a fork , 'stick a fork in it it's done ' sort of thing. There's a fork at 'The Charcoal Steakhouse' , King and Fairway, about that size LOL. Either way, it's art !!!

Extremely weird! When development companies start producing 'Abandoned House Art', we've certainly entered a new era in this province.
