About this location

Decommissioned gas station near Metcalfe. The business had once been a full service station with gas, grocery, service, wash and service bays, etc. It even had batting cages and, yes, it sold worms. Over the years various services were shuttered until only the wash bays and store were in operation. It has been called a number of things, most recently G&R Gas and Convenience. U-Haul has it listed as York's Corners Mall. It was serving as a residence for two people when it caught fire early in the morning of 9th Sept, 2014. Stopped by to take these today (on the way to Costco...even with the rain, this was much more enjoyable...). Was going to poke my head inside...right up until I noticed a large and somewhat grumpy looking gentleman retrieving what I believe were his belongings. Took these external photos as we recently had a century house also burn nearby and it was demolished before I could document it.

UPDATE: April 2015.

Main building is demolished. The gas station infrastructure remains. Perhaps a rebuild but more likely awaiting proper environmental decommissioning.
