Stand Aside Captain

Lighthouses are being decommissioned in Nova Scotia. More than half of the lighthouses have been deemed inefficient and so the people in the surrounding communities have taken on the responsibility of caring for and maintaining the lighthouse properties.

This lighthouse station was built in 1967 and lost to a fire in 2004... however... a new building has taken it's place directly beside it. Still, the road heading up to this lighthouse is poorly maintained and the tourist attraction of this specific site has dwindled to near none. The property shows no signs of maintenance but there are keepers designated and fighting for this site to stay open and active.

Although the site is not exactly considered "abandoned"... this particular building and its decay is sure to fit in here....may not be long before the lighthouse itself will be inactive... you never know.
