For almost 50 years, a gathering of roadside trees outside Orangeville has attracted local intrigue for its ever-growing collection of abandoned shoes. Started in the early 70s, locals have watched a single pair of jazz shoes nailed to a tree mutate into dozens of pairs over several trees: work boots, sneakers, ski boots, crocs. The originator of the shoe forest is a mystery, as well as why the forest was started. A memorial? A prank? Simple whimsy?
GPS coordinates are general: It is on Orangeville-Caledon Townline, just past B Line.
