Hazards of Basement Bikes

Lots of mould! Air quality isn’t great in this house.

History of Basement Bikes

Owner passed in 2011, had originally purchased house way back in 1955. Not sure if the house has been vacant since 2011, but it certainly looks like it.

This house was a mess! Lots of debris on the floors throughout, especially in the living room and one of the upper rooms. At first I was wondering how on earth the 3 motorcycles got into the basement, then I realized there was a garage at the back which had access to the basement (sloped yard). A few interesting knick-knacks in the front room on the upper level, including a teddy bear, a wooden eagle, hookah pipe, and what appeared to be a taxidermied young alligator (or crocodile)?

2025 Update: 2026. I have since learned that the house was bought likely right around the time that I explored it, the new owners gutted the house and flipped it into a beautiful new family home.

The real estate listing stated: This stunning home in desirable neighbourhood is set on a large lot with exceptional quality and style. Designed for multigenerational living with separate entrance and kitchen on the lower level. It comes with a spacious lower level rec room, living area, and laundry.

The main level features 9 foot ceilings, custom kitchen, and spa-like ensuite.

Recent improvements include new windows, doors, insulation, flooring, and shingles. It's a spacious layout with 3 bedrooms on main/upper level and 1 large bedroom on lower level.

In November 2023 the house was listed for $839,900, After 156 days on the market, the home sold for $795,000.
