Hazards of Hedman Mine

Risk of encountering bears or other animals

The edges of the open pit have steep faces and loose rock that could result in serious falls.

The turn off to the open pit leads directly into the water which was formerly the ramp, and is not blocked.

History of Hedman Mine

The Hedman mine opened in 1961 and continued operations mining asbestos until the 90s.

The Hedman mine is located on the northern end of Neely Rd, and can be driven to when the snow has melted.

The first feature is the pit, on the west side of the road. Further north leads to the foundation and car graveyard.
