Steep Hill Falls Hydro Dam: Off hwy 17 north of Wawa is this abandoned hydro dam. Construction began in 1911 and it took 2 years to complete, but it was abandoned in 1927.
This location was used in the 1977 Canadian horror film "Rituals". At 1:18 into this clip you can see a horrific murder take place at this very dam (Youtube removed the video)

Thanks Robert!! hehe.. There was a huge forest fire here that wiped out all the trees for miles around as evidenced in the film..I am amazed at how little the abandoned dam has changed since 1977...
I have been looking for this location for the past 10 yrs as it was used in the horror film "Rituals" in 1977..thanks Pierre..

There wAs no forest fire. The trees were all killed by the sulphur dioxide emited by the Algoma Ore Properties sinter plant. I spent many days fishing pickerel at the base of the plant in the 1950’s. We stayed in the abandoned managers house.
