About this location

This is the oldest pioneer cemetery in Clarington. It dates from the 1830's. The Burks, Conants and Trulls were the first settlers to the area. These Empire Loyalists settled the lakefront's broken lots of Darlington and East Whitby (now Oshawa) Townships. One burial is of a 5 year old (photo included)..

Making that monument was a great idea, that along with the plaque and description of who they are and what they did is an incredibly classy move by the city and whoever worked towards having it done.

That's a fantastic idea that the city employed with the remounting of the broken headstones in a concrete memorial. I think the parks department of Niagara Falls should take notice!
