Thanks to Clay70 for giving the heads up about this place.
This place rates a 10/10. Grand old stone farmhouse with a barn foundation and silo. Collapsed outbuildings full of destroyed antique sleighs and plows. Interior of the house looks like it was being renovated and modernized, definitely signs that renos where happening at one point. Loads of personal belongings...books, trophies, clothes, photo albums, tools, household goods and so on.....most recent date on a newspaper was June 2011.
The last folks to inhabit this great property would have been the Godfrey family. They also ran a trailer park and fun farm on Rice Lake, as well as numerous other businesses. Brochures can be found at the house, along with several other pieces of named paperwork.
You could spend hours here exploring all the goodies, and no one will bother you. There are no close neighbours, the only question being the parking of the car. You could use the driveway, its long and rough but passable. Depends how much you like to abuse your ride. "No Trespassing" sign was courtesy of St. Mary's Cement, so maybe the land was sold for development.
What a shame to see such a beautiful house and property go to waste. Once again we are left to ponder the reason for the abandonment.

No problem Timo, glad to help! If you go to the area again, might be worth looking at those cottages. I can't imagine they just left them vacant, but then again....
I added some links here, the Godfreys sold their resort property just south of here, on Rice Lake, which is now owned by a resort developer who plans to establish it as another seasonal trailer park. I wonder why they just left so much stuff behind here though. I also wonder what's become of all those lakefront cottages since the sale.
