About this location
It was four years ago that Brick St. Elementary School was closed. After declining enrolment got the better of it, the Thames Valley District School Board closed the school and put it up for sale in June of 2010. The for sale sign changed to sold about two years ago, but the windows have remained smashed or boarded and the property overgrown since then.
Update by AndrewLawton (08/21/2014) In August, 2014, Drewlo Holdings, the development company that owns the former Brick St. School, submitted an application for a demolition permit to build high-rises. Admin note: This entry was created by AndrewLawton and only moments later Finz519 also created the same extra. As the first one would be offline due to Andrew being a Basic Member and needing admin approval, the entry rightfully is his. It was very close.

Went in this beautiful place in my early amateur urbex days (I was 13,14ish) and it was one of my favourite places to date. I remember hanging around here frequently with my friend (as I lived in the buildings on the property nextdoor) and hearing the alarm beeping inside the building through the broken windows everytime we went close enough. We eventually gained entry but the doors were locked halfway through the school. Everything was still intact, absolutely stunning. The part of the school I gained access to was built in 1958. I really enjoyed my exploration here. To my absolute utmost luck, I was outside during the one time police actually came. They had startled my friends and I. They had a K9 dog barking real loud at us and yelled for us to freeze. All went fine as I told them I was never inside ;) I figured we had set off a silent alarm, as I didnt see any potential witnesses that could've seen us inside (as slick as we were being). Call me crazy but I really loved this place with part of my heart. I felt so connected to it for some silly reason. I still miss it like crazy everytime I go past.
Give it a couple days and it'll be open again. Boards were screwed from the inside so they won't last long.
Must have been within the last 24 hours because I went back yesterday morning.

Man these shots bring back memories of when I was a kid and attended this school in the 70s! I recognize the kindergarten door that we all screamed at on our first day of school, the playground that had 3 or 4 portables on it as the school was bursting at the seams with kinds and the upper windows that our science teacher tossed our contraptions out of that had to prevent an egg from breaking! All great memories but sad to see it decaying and ultimately demolished!
