Gas Station in Grand Valley

This shut down gas station is on the main street of Grand Valley. I probably wouldn(a)t have even noticed it except for the weird message on the attendant booth. We wondered who wrote the message. Was it directed towards the owner, or from the owner towards the town, or just some random graffiti?

Theres also a boarded up house or store beside the station that looks like it belonged to the same owner.
