Five abandoned houses on the west side of Hancock Road are located just a few properties north of the intersection of Hanock Road and Nash Road in Courtice, Clarington, Ontario. There may be other abandoned houses in the area, but there’s no confirmation. Three out of four houses have accessible interiors, while one remains completely boarded up. There is also roof access to one house by using the antenna, but the antenna is not 100% sturdy, so it is advised not to climb it.

House 1: Open Garage

The first house visited was a two-story home with a basement. Upon arrival, one of the garage doors was open. Later, it was discovered that the back sliding door was also open. There appears to have been a good amount of activity in this house, considering the broken sections of drywall, but overall is relatively untouched. Interestingly, the fireplace contained ash, possibly indicating someone had a fire in the house after abandonment.

House 2: Crime Scene

House number two. This property was the most interesting. It is a one-story home with a basement and a garage. There is an enclosed porch at the back of the house, where an open door was found. Inside we immediately came across a small figurine of Jesus Christ on the kitchen island, along with a few pieces of police crime scene tape scattered on the floor. The basement had significant mould and water damage, but we found a newspaper dated August 25, 2016.

House 3: Inaccessible Interior, Rear Garage

House 4: Inaccessible Interior, Accessible Rooftop

The third house at this location was completely boarded up with no open access point. However, a garage at the back was accessible and open. This house is a two-story home with a basement. A tall antenna on the side of the home is located between the house and the hedges that can be climbed to access the roof. Caution is advised due to falling hazards, and the antenna is not very sturdy; it is advised not to climb it.

House 5: Window Entrance

The last house is a one-story home with a basement and garage and an open shed at the rear. The house is accessible only through a small, open window at the rear of the structure. The interior has some moderate vandalism/damage, and the basement appears to have significant water damage and mould.
