The Stanton Hotel currently sits abandoned, under an air of controversy. Originally built in 1863, this is the last of the former stage-coach hotels remaining in Mulmer. While some members of the community struggle to save and restore the old hotel, others want it destroyed as an eyesore and obstacle standing in the way of intersection improvements. The history of this famous location cannot be denied, but then again, neither can the deteriorating condition of the once active icon. I have included links below which further explain the history and current struggles that face the hotel.
The building itself has undergone several renovations from its inception, and has served the community well over the years as a meeting place for weary travellers and locals alike. Today, the building is locked up tight, but you can see inside that much work is need. The piano that once was the soundtrack for countless gatherings and festivities, sits weather-beaten and wilting on the veranda, never again to play its sweet tones. A shed behind the hotel dates from over a century ago, its rough-hewn lumber construction evidence of the times that have passed. Eventually it will be torn down with nary a thought, all in the name of progress.
What fate awaits the Stanton Hotel is uncertain, but nor now and for us, the history and the hotel are still there for our enjoyment.

The hotel is now boarded up, foundation and additions have been removed. Guess it's ready for its new home.
