This is a property that I had my eye on since last winter. Not the most attractive home, but it had its charm. It had been vacant & was listed for sale for over a million dollars. It's location was on a street with multimillion dollar monster homes, but it was your basic 1940's averaged size house built on a very deep lot.

The owners of this home were WWII Veteran Alfred William Kirkham & his wife Jessie. They brought up 7 kids in this household which later brought them 13 grandchildren & 8 great grandchildren. On Friday the 23rd of July 2010 Alfred passed away at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital at the age of 87. It appears without Alfred, the widow Jessie & the kids decided that it was time to sell their home.

The home already had the hints of abandonment when I first spotted it, shortly afterward it went up for sale. I was waiting to see if there may be an opening or an open house, no such luck & a few months later it was sold. It didn't take a genius to figure demolition would be around the corner. At that time I knew I had to investigate further & took some pictures, but was still denied entry.

I wanted to hold off posting this location until I was able to get interiors. I visited the property about once a week looking for any chance to see the inside of this home, still no luck. In October there was some tree removal going on & I didn't like those signs or the lack of opportunities in this neighbourhood. When I returned there a week later it had been demolished.

Nothing special here, no opportunities for future pictures, just a few pictures to remember what had been there for almost 70 years & had been a part of a family's history.
