Update: It looks as if this old place is gone and new construction has gone up.

At the end of Tulip road on the north side stands this old farmhouse.  The new-ish siding made me wonder since the driveway looks like it’s been a while since anyone has been there.  Then I noticed the hole above the dormer window and decided to investigate.

The side door was a little tricky to get in; it was probably the only thing holding up the roof on that porch. The interior is severely damaged by fire, but overall in pretty good shape.

One real gem is the newspaper on part of the kitchen that was used as insulation. On one we were able to read the date, Wednesday October 9, 1912. Eerily there were several articles about fire. I think we found three of them. One headline, 10 children were killed in a fire and another the farmhouse burnt down. Were these articles prophetic?

There is obvious evidence of critters living there, but doesn't smell too bad. I think the porcupine enjoyed using the old sofa as a bed. We found a few quills sticking in it.

The only evidence we found about when this place was abandoned was a scorched phone book from 2000.

There is also a very nice old log barn and a couple of other out buildings on the property.
