History of Eureka Hub

In 2014, the first Eureka Hub Building opened in Irvine, California. Eureka Hub aimed to serve as what is essentially rent-able workspace for “like-minded innovators in the creative and tech fields“. They soon expanded to other locations, such as London, Athens, and of course, Toronto. The building in question was known as Eureka Hub Toronto East, and offered multiple separate office spaces for small companies, with the ones visible on their site capable of holding from 6 people up to 20. With no evidence of the company in poor standing, I am led to believe that this building was expropriated by the city for the current East Harbor Development.

The building next door, formerly “El Cheapo Movers”, seems to have also been a part of this expropriation, now having been fully demolished since my visit, as well as the personal storage building that was located across the street, with that one having been demolished early August.

The top four floors were mostly empty, filled with scrap taken from the interior demolition but not having left the building yet. The first floor was also fairly empty, however one of the offices had been converted into a break room for the demo workers. Unfortunately, they didn’t leave any donuts for me.
