Hazards of Old Allbright Flashlight Building

As it's on a busy street, neighbors are going to be the primary hazard. The building itself seems to hold up okay, however I will update the hazards once I access the POE.

History of Old Allbright Flashlight Building

I was pretty stumped when I attempted to find history regarding this location. The only bit of valuable information I could find was on an old post, where it was said to have been built in 1948 for the Allbright Corp. of Canada- a producer of flaslights and cigarette lighters.

UPDATE: I reached out to the individual who had posted the only known history on the building- and I was blown away by the amount of information (and supporting articles) they provided after doing some more research. I will directly quote their findings:

"The Allbright Corp did not last long at 1315 Queen E - they vacated the site in 1952, and Remington Rand (tabulating machines) moved in and stayed from 1953 till 1963. The site was then vacant for two years until Fantasy Copperware took it on in 1966. Fantasy Copperware stayed till 1994/95. After that it became a kind of arts/dance theatre, known alternately Myth Productions and Creative Reproductions, run by an artist named Lori Dell and her then partner, a dancer named Learie McNicholls. McNicolls left around ’98 and Dell was on her own till at least 2000. By that time, I don’t believe the site was being used commercially. Unfortunately, the records run out in 2000, so I can’t say what happened after that - but I wouldn’t be surprised if was vacated soon after and left to its current state."

Apart from this, there really wasn't much else online, aside from old listings of price. On January 2005, the building was listed, and then delisted on April 8, 2005, when I can only assume it was bought. In April 2013, the laneway behind the property was closed by request of the private corporation that owned the property, with the purpose to redevelop the property. However, clearly nothing has happened on that front since. Despite these transactional changes on the property, it's sat vacant since at least 2007 (from the earliest Google Maps street view available). Despite the very rare maintenance, such as painted over graffiti and occasionally fixing of windows, very little has changed on this property in the last 20 years or so- just the wear and tear of a building not well cared to.

What gave the impression it was completely fixed in 2018? On street view, the plants overgrowing the house had died since the previous date of August 2017. I'd presume that it's from the weather and the rest of the building seemed to have remained the same.

I guess when I looked the first time I thought there had been some boards removed and replaced with glass in 2018. But that wasn't the case, the branches covering the building in 2017 gave me the illusion that some windows were boarded up
