This is a bit of a strange one. I don't want to get too deep into it or I could divulge the location. I was debating whether to put up this location, but it is starting to stand out like a sore thumb & I figure someone will eventually post it, so I thought at least I would have some control over it for now.
If you just looked at the pictures, you would probably jump to the conclusion that it's not abandoned. I have been monitoring this house since prior to Christmas 2012, more than a few times a week & I have never seen anyone there. I know some of its recent history, I know its future, I've been monitoring the place & although I thought 100% for sure, after going in I'm not 100% positive that it is abandoned.
This home was listed for sale in the summer of 2011 for almost $4,000,000. It sold in the middle of the summer. Around the same time, proposals & announcements of a long proposed transportation study was being completed. There is a final & approved proposal for a new 4 lane major road to be developed, that would go right through the house & the property. They are probably behind schedule, but the initial proposal was that this new major transportation road would start to be constructed in 2013. The portion that involves the house is apparently at least 4 years off.
My assumption of course was that the government had bought the land. This may be true, or maybe some unsuspecting soul was unaware of the plan that had been ongoing for about 8 years & he bought the place. Regardless, it does not look to be lived in.
So as I monitor the place, there are no lights on (power is still on), no cars, no people, grass is probably 1.5 - 2 feet high & the yard has been un-kept. Some screens have been knocked down or removed. It cries that it is abandoned. Inside, there is no bedroom furniture of any kind in any room, except for 1 sleigh bed, without any mattresses. Showers & bathrooms look untouched. On the upper floor, there is virtually nothing but a few pieces of furniture, but the remaining pieces are beautiful. In the basement, there looks to be something of a fashion design office & work area, once again nothing else. ** As of November 2013, all this fashion business stuff has been removed & the room is empty. **
Fridge is empty except for a case of water, that has been virtually untouched, there is a case of water on the counter, cupboards are bare, at least the ones I looked at. I was looking, but everything seemed so empty that I think I stopped looking through them all. I could not access the garage, the door seems sealed tight or stuck. If I pulled harder the handle would have broke.
On the counter is a receipt from October 2012 & another from Nov 2012, just sitting as though left there, all by themselves, but never picked up or put away.
So, there is no way this house is being lived in, it appears to me that there may have been a business at some point in the basement. There are a few pieces of very nice furniture that looks practically new. Were people there & then they left? Are people coming? Is the major 4 lane road being built anytime soon? If you can afford a $4,000,000 house would you care if you left furniture that the vast majority of us would think was awesome? Was this furniture new or old & being prepared to move? Is this furniture owned by the government or a private citizen? What about the home? Was it rented out?
Although I know some here will recognize this place & I am sure a few others have been watching this property, I am keeping the location hidden until we know some of the answers to the above questions.

It almost looks like they have had a cleaner in, but no landscaping? The whole time there the central vac motor was running & in the front there looks to be some kind of vacuum discarded by the garage. Some people here may have access to the land registry, I'm afraid I don't.
I wonder if there's any way to find out who is registered to the property. It's remarkably clean.
